Introduction
Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (“ACGME,” “Company,“ or “We”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.
This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you download the ACGME AWARE app (our “App”) and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information. This Privacy Policy only pertains to information collected by ACGME through the App.
We detect and use the IP address of users downloading the App in order to assist us with diagnosing and solving problems with the server and to assist with the administration of the App. Other than that, the ACGME nor 5-Nines, the app host, does not collect any personal data.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein, we will not share any limited personal information gathered on this site with third parties except in limited circumstances as identified below.
If you do not agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy, please do not access and download the App.
Changes to the App Privacy Policy
As the ACGME AWARE app may change from time to time, this Privacy Policy is expected to change as well. ACGME reserves the right to change this policy at any time for any reason. We will post a notice that this Privacy Policy has been amended by revising the “Last modified” date at the top of this page.
Web Cookies and Other Forms of User Recognition
Google Play and the Apple Store collect information about use of this App. The tools they use collect information such as how many users download the App, on what date and time, from what page they were directed to the app, the users’ IP addresses, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this App. Google Play and the Apple Store are able to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this App, however this information is not available to anyone except Google or Apple. Google’s and Apple’s ability to use and share information they collect about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Play’s and Apple Store’s Terms of Use and their respective Privacy Policies.
We use the limited information we get from the Google Play and the Apple Store only to improve this App. Google Play and the Apple Store share only your Device type and version, and your Country, Language and Carrier on the date you download the App; they do not ever share your name or other identifying information. The data is collected directly by Google Play or the Apple Store; neither the ACGME nor 5-Nines, the app host, combines the information collected through the use of Google or Apple tools with any personally identifiable information. This information is collected for statistical purposes and to make the App more useful to visitors. ACGME does not collect personal information about individual users nor do we supply personal or financial information about individual users to third parties. The ACGME and 5-Nines do use cookies to maintain App information to assist in App navigation. The server hosting the AWARE Word Press app detects only a visitor’s access information including download date and time, their IP address, and the pages they visited. Use of this data is limited to diagnosing and solving problems with the server and to assist with the administration of the App.
Personal Information
In the course of app operation, the limited information collected by the App may be stored and processed in the United States. ACGME may collect, hold, and use, directly or through its affiliates, contractors, successors, assigns, and agents, the personally identifiable information you submit through the site.
The ACGME cooperates with law enforcement inquiries and enforcement activities. ACGME may monitor, edit, or disclose your personal information, if required to do so in order to comply with any valid legal process or governmental request (such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order). Any and all data collected by or on behalf of ACGME relating any use of the App or its content by any users is and shall remain at all times the sole property of ACGME.
We may use the information collected in a de-identified format for research, quality improvement, or benchmarking purposes, and may provide this information in the aggregate to third parties. For example, we might inform other users about the number of users that have downloaded the App.
We may contract with other companies or individuals to help us provide services, such as development or maintenance of the App. We require others to comply with the Privacy Policy and limit their access to only the information that is necessary to accomplish the task at hand and nothing more. Unless otherwise specified above, your personal information will not be provided to any third parties.
Security Policy
We treat data as an asset that must be protected against loss and unauthorized access. This server hosting this Word Press app has security policies and technology in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the limited information (e.g. visitor IP address) under ACGME control. No personal information beyond a visitor’s IP address is collected and procedural and technical safeguards are used to protect all information under its control against loss or theft as well as unauthorized access and disclosure. We cannot, however, protect against user misuse, loss, or alteration of a user’s own information. Although ACGME makes every reasonable attempt to ensure your information is secure, there is always some risk in transmitting information across the Internet. We cannot guarantee that the personal information we collect will never be disclosed in some manner not consistent with this Privacy Policy. We also cannot protect against User misuse, loss, or alteration of any user editable content.
